Carter James

I'm a filmmaker and photographer based in Alabaster, AL. I currently attend The University of Montevallo. I'm currently a Junior with a major in Mass Communication and minor in Digital Filmmaking. On and off campus, I work in broadcast, filmmaking, photography and the written word. My experience in broadcast has been in news, live events, and sports. As a filmmaker, I specialize in directing, cinematography and editing. I'm currently the lifestyles editor for the school newspaper, The Alabamian.

A photo tells more than a thousand words, it tells a thousand stories.

I never see myself as a photographer, filmmaker, or even artist, but a storyteller. Storytelling is the language I've known the longest, and it has translated into every faucet of my creative life. Documentation, promotion, and/or vanity may be the reasons we want a photo or video, but the stories are the reason we cherish them.

Dedication is the thing that makes me stand out from the rest. Where some may see a shoot as a means to an end or an easy job, I see it as the point where art meets necessity. I won't deliver you just a good portrait or just a video, but a talking point, a landmark, treasure to be cherished. I don't want people to talk about my work, but to be interested in the story behind and in front of them.
